Kandle Park is a 21-acre preserve surrounded by lush meadows, rolling hills, majestic fir stands, and cedar trees. Its features include a half-mile walking trail, picnic tables, benches, play structures, grills, and restroom facilities. Visitors can take in stunning views of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound from the park's elevated platform. Aubrey and Mary Kandle donated the park to commemorate their grandfather, Robert A Kandle, and his work in the logging industry in the early 1900s. The park is named after him and has become a family favorite.

Kandle Park has many wildlife species, including birds, deer, squirrels, rabbits, etc. Books are around where you can record sightings. In addition, the McChord Air Force Base offers courses in wilderness survival, first aid, ecology, and astronomy for adults, youth, and kids. On any given day, you’ll find people from all walks of life at Kandle Park. Families, friends, couples, and even lone soles can all be seen enjoying the serenity of this tranquil oasis.
